Wednesday's early morning tide at 01:00 on 10/04/2024 is higher than normal due to unsettled weather with strong Westerly Force 5 winds and large waves. The weather increases tide table values by 0.19 m. The total forecast tide is 6.30 metres Chart Datum (3.25 mAOD) at Littlehampton. Approximately 40cm lower than Monday night. For 2 hours either side of high tide, flood impacts are expected. Water could find its way behind the beach and flow over nearby land and fields including at Climping Street Car Park, Mill Lane, and affect properties on Climping Street. Water could flow through ditches and over fields towards Littlehampton. Wednesday's afternoon tide at 13:30 on 10/04/2024 is forecast to be very similar (3.31 mAOD). Flood impacts are expected again. Flood impacts could continue until Friday 12/04/2024. We continue to monitor the forecast and routinely check the condition of the beach at Climping. Access could be restricted during and after high tide. Take care if visiting Climping beach. We will update this message by 18:00 on 10/04/2024.

Tuesday's early morning tide at 00:30 on 09/04/2024 is higher than normal due to unsettled weather with Gale Force 8 South Westerly winds and large waves. The weather increases tide table values by 0.7 m. The total forecast tide is 6.75 metres Chart Datum (3.70 mAOD) at Littlehampton. For 2 hours either side of high tide, waves will overtop the sea front. Water will flow westwards along Mill Lane and Climping Street (from the right of the East car park) ponding in Climping Street Car Park, near to properties, and in nearby land and fields. Large waves and flood impacts will still be possible Tuesday afternoon. However, Tuesday's tide at 12:30 on 09/04/2024 is forecast to be 50cm lower (3.17 mAOD). We continue to monitor the forecast and routinely check the condition of the beach at Climping. Please take action to protect property on Climping Street at least 2 hours before high tide. Avoid visiting the sea front. Shingle and debris can be thrown by large waves. Access could be restricted during and after high tide. We will update this message by 18:00 on 09/04/2024.

For 2 hours either side of high tide, minor flood impacts are expected. A small amount of water could find its way behind the beach and may pond on nearby land and fields including at Climping Street Car Park and Mill Lane. Tuesday's afternoon tide is predicted to be 15cm lower, with lighter winds and slightly smaller waves. Minor flood impacts should reduce Tuesday. We continue to monitor the forecast and routinely check the condition of the beach at Climping. The total forecast tide is 6.02 metres Chart Datum (2.97 mAOD) at Littlehampton. For 2 hours either side of high tide, minor flood impacts are expected. Water could find its way behind the beach, flow along Mill Lane towards residential property in Climping Street, and pond on nearby land and fields including at Climping Street Car Park. Both tides on Saturday are predicted to be similar to Friday's midday tide, but with lighter winds and slightly smaller waves. Minor flood impacts are possible Saturday, but should reduce Sunday as tides fall further. We continue to monitor the forecast and routinely check the condition of the beach at Climping. The weather increases tide table values by 0.19 m. The total forecast tide is 6.13 metres Chart Datum (3.08 mAOD) at Littlehampton. For 2 hours either side of high tide, waves will overtop the sea front. Water will flow westwards along Mill Lane and Climping Street (from the right of the East car park) ponding in Climping Street Car Park, near to properties, and in nearby land and fields. A very similar tide and flood impacts are forecast for midday Friday. Winds are predicted to ease Friday afternoon. We continue to monitor the forecast and routinely check the condition of the beach at Climping. Our operations staff plan to work at the beach Friday morning. Gale Force 8 South Westerly winds and large waves increase tide table values by 0.55 m. The total forecast tide is 6.28 metres Chart Datum (3.23 mAOD) at Littlehampton. For 2 hours either side of high tide, waves will overtop the sea front. Water will flow westwards along Mill Lane and Climping Street (from the right of the East car park) ponding in Climping Street car park, near to properties, and in nearby land and fields. Strong winds and large waves will continue over the weekend, albeit not as extreme. After Saturday, the next highest tide is forecast to be 20 cm lower, on Monday afternoon. However, spray and minor flood impacts will continue this weekend. We continue to monitor the forecast and have staff on standby to check the condition of the beach at Climping. The weather increases tide table values by 0.64 m. The total forecast tide is 6.31 metres Chart Datum (3.26 mAOD) at Littlehampton. For 2 hours either side of high tide, waves will overtop the sea front. Water will flow westwards along Mill Lane and Climping Street (from the right of the East car park) ponding in Climping Street Car Park, near to properties, and in nearby land and fields. Friday evening’s tide will be 50cm lower. However, strong winds and large waves will continue over the weekend, albeit not as extreme. Saturday’s midday tide could see a return of minor flood impacts, when tide levels could be similar to midday Friday. We continue to monitor the forecast and have staff on standby to check the condition of the beach at Climping. The weather increases tide table values by 0.19 m. The total forecast tide is 6.16 metres Chart Datum (3.11 mAOD) at Littlehampton. For 2 hours either side of high water, waves will overtop Climping sea front. This will affect Climping Street and Climping Street Car Park. Ponded sea water will flood nearby land and fields. Ferry road may also be impassable from 11:00. Tidal conditions will remain similar until Friday14/02/2020, with strong winds and large waves. Flood impacts are expected to continue each tide. We continue to monitor the forecast and will check the condition of the beach. Avoid parking or walking at Climping Beach, conditions are dangerous. Tuesday's early morning tide at 00:45 on 11/02/2020 is expected to be similar to Monday lunchtime's tide which caused significant damage to Climping beach and caused flooding of Climping Street. Force 8 winds and large waves will increase tide table values by 0.38 m. The total forecast tide is 6.38 metres Chart Datum (3.33 mAOD) at Littlehampton. For two hours either side of high water, impacts are expected to be similar to midday Monday, and there is a risk of property flooding on Climping Street. Ferry Road may also be impassable from 23:00. Although Tuesday lunchtime's tide is marginally smaller, there will still be a risk of further flooding. Large waves, high tides and the risk of flooding will persist until at least Thursday 13/02/2020. We are working with emergency partners to provide further assistance.
